                                 The Story

Serial No. 105 and convertible body No. 47, this 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible is a very early production example built on September 12, 1962—the second day of production for 1963 model year cars—and delivered to Daniels Motors in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It is finished in the positively beautiful combination of Saddle Tan paint over a Saddle Tan interior with leather seating surfaces.

It retains its original, matching-numbers L84 Rochester fuel-injected 327/360 HP small-block V-8 engine and T-10 4-speed manual transmission, as affirmed by Al Grenning’s Classic Car Affirmation Service LLC, with a 4.11:1 Positraction rear end completing the most potent drivetrain available in the 1963 Corvette lineup. Additionally equipped with aluminized off-road exhaust, a white soft top and body-matching auxiliary hard top, seat belts, a Wonderbar AM/FM radio and 6.70×15 white-stripe tires on finned aluminum knock-off wheels, it was the recipient of a body-off restoration.

This rare early production Sting Ray convertible presents in overall outstanding concours condition and retains most all factory-correct-type components including the spare, jack, jack tools, knock-off wheel hammer, clear floor mats, washer system, shielding, air cleaner, alternator, idler pulley, spark plug shields, hoses, hose clamps, valve covers, fuel-injection unit, fuel-injection fuel filter, 6-quart oil pan, finned balancer, expansion tank, radiator, gas door assembly, long-base Bowtie mirror, glovebox door, cookie tin hood and T-3 headlights.

Its impressive documentation includes the owner’s manual and dealer brochure, Al Grenning CCAS engine stamp affirmation, a copy of the crucial warranty book page, ownership history back to delivery, a crucial numbers sheet, a Corvette Center/Ray Zisa appraisal, a letter from an NCRS master judge, a copy of the previous owner title, post-restoration glamour photos and a three-ring binder.
